This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

The Data Architect should have senior level and subject matter expertise in data management, implementation, and storage for enterprise level federal agencies. The Data Architect will be responsible for evaluating, assessing, and documenting current data management and architecture of clients. The Data Architect will evaluate and provide solutions moving forward that integrate industry best practices, technical updates, cloud services, and enabling capabilities to meet the long-term operational objectives of the client.

Data Architect Responsibilities Include:

  • Data Architecture Design: Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures tailored to meet the specific needs and objectives of federal agencies.
  • Data Modeling: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to facilitate understanding, communication, and implementation of data structures.
  • Data Integration: Oversee the integration of disparate data sources, ensuring consistency, integrity, and reliability across the federal client's data ecosystem.
  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations and best practices.
  • Security and Privacy: Collaborate with security teams to implement robust data security and privacy measures, including encryption, access controls, and data masking, to protect sensitive information.
  • Data Quality Management: Implement processes and tools for monitoring, measuring, and improving data quality to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data assets.
  • Metadata Management: Develop and maintain metadata repositories to catalog and document data assets, including definitions, lineage, and usage.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and developers, to ensure alignment with data architecture principles and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices in data architecture and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the federal client's data capabilities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Data Architect Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of 10 years in data architecture design and implementation, preferably in a federal or government contracting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating legacy data storage to modern cloud-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing optimized data architecture for multiple integrations enhancing usability, storage, and recall.
  • Demonstrated experience with large scale data migration or modernization on either AWS or Azure.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing data storage solutions for common enterprise applications such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, GIS, etc.
  • Strong understanding of data integration patterns, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, standards, and tools, such as DAMA-DMBOK and Collibra.
  • In-depth knowledge of data security and privacy principles, standards, and regulations, including FISMA, HIPAA, and GDPR.
  • Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or TOGAF are a plus.
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Database Architect, Data Modeler, or Data Engineer.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
