Senior Project Manager, Mission Critical (AFG)

JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge projects for innovative clients in large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor sectors. As part of this team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

  1. Lead the company's safety culture, demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment, investigate safety incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
  2. Manage the JE Dunn prestart checklist form.
  3. Support preconstruction activities including quantity takeoff, trade coordination, scope development, review, bid package creation, schedule development, and bid advertisement.
  4. Lead the buyout schedule, verify pricing and scope, identify successful bidders, and manage subcontract issuance.
  5. Manage submittal schedules, review and approve shop drawings and samples, and ensure timely return to subcontractors.
  6. Coordinate with Logistics for material and equipment pricing.
  7. Work with risk management on subcontractor approval and bonding, providing ongoing risk analysis.
  8. Coordinate project stakeholders including subcontractors, owners, the design team, and vendors.
  9. Disseminate change requests, gather subcontractor pricing, and evaluate accuracy.
  10. Prepare and submit change requests for owner/architect approval.
  11. Lead project meetings such as monthly reviews, progress meetings, and owner-architect meetings.
  12. Manage subcontractor and owner payment processes.
  13. Develop project schedules with input from the team, utilizing Lean principles, and manage resources to meet project timelines.
  14. Identify schedule impacts and facilitate mitigation plans.
  15. Document decisions affecting project scope, budget, schedule, legal, quality, and safety.
  16. Provide regular project status reports and financial forecasts, participate in budget development, and monitor costs against the budget.
  17. Lead project closeout, including punch lists, financials, warranties, and legal documentation.

Additional Responsibilities - Senior Project Manager

  1. Lead safety initiatives and foster a safety-first culture.
  2. Understand preconstruction processes from conceptual to GMP development.
  3. Oversee estimating, productivity analysis, and support preconstruction client discussions.
  4. Identify and manage project risks and contribute to business planning for financial success.
  5. Manage project operations and resolve issues proactively.
  6. Engage with external industry and community activities to build relationships.
  7. Review and approve expenses, negotiate change orders, and lead scope and bid analysis.
  8. Collaborate with marketing on presentations and activities.
  9. Promote diversity and inclusion policies within the organization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Accurate, complete, and timely work performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, project management, scheduling software, BIM, and construction technology.
  • Ability to manage budgets, build relationships, and lead projects from start to finish.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of construction management experience.

Working Environment

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as needed.
  • Flexible working hours to meet project needs.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
