Position Summary: The position requires an individual who is politically astute, has sound judgement, is results-driven, possesses a deep commitment to collaboration, and can operate with the highest level of diplomacy and confidentiality. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Chief of Staff will serve as the chief advisor and aide to the Superintendent; serve as a systems integrator across and amongst internal and external stakeholders and leaders; coordinate actions with Management Teams and collaborate with the Superintendent's direct reports and executive management; and oversee and inform the Superintendent of the day-to-day operations of the office, including budget, staffing, and operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree in education, business, communications, public relations, or a related field
  2. Master's degree preferred

Experience:

  1. Five (5) years leadership experience in a school district, government agency, or non-profit organization
  2. Experience working with a diverse population of students and families within an urban school setting
  3. Demonstrated success working in diverse economic, multicultural, and multilingual communities and environments

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:

  1. Prefer possession of or have ability to obtain an administrator certification with school leadership experience
  2. Knowledge of collective bargaining and participatory governance processes
  3. Understanding of, and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of the community, students, parents, teachers and staff.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
  5. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
