Role: Head of Asset Management - Renewables

Location: Reading, Berkshire - Hybrid Working

Salary: Up to £120K Per Annum + Bonus

Client: Our client is a leading IPP Developer with more than 15 years' global experience in developing, designing, constructing, managing, and operating ground-breaking renewable energy projects. They have a platform in place to hold its own portfolio of renewable projects and target having over 500MW of projects under ownership by 2026. The company has one of the largest footprints of clean energy projects, has installed more than 17,000 solar systems, and currently manages more than 300MWp.

Additionally, they currently have a further 3GW+ in construction and development across the UK and Italy. Due to increased demand and project success, they are looking for a Head of Asset Management to join their growing team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management: Track, report, and troubleshoot asset financial performance, including revenue, operating costs, and profitability. Administer offtake contracts (e.g., PPA, cPPA, CfD), ensuring compliance and notifying when fixed-term contracts are due to expire. Collaborate with the Finance team on budgets, forecasts, and financial models. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high performance standards. Ensure insurance policies are in place and maintained, managing claims when required.
  2. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks. Develop contingency plans for potential disruptions or underperformance.
  3. Operational Oversight: Monitor solar asset performance for optimal energy production and efficiency. Oversee operations and maintenance activities, ensuring issues are resolved. Develop and implement performance improvement plans with O&M providers and stakeholders.
  4. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to contractual, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and present performance reports. Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams for compliance and disputes.
  5. Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary contact for senior management and off-takers. Build and leverage vendor relationships, including O&M providers, consultants, and contractors. Collaborate with internal teams to meet company objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, business administration, or related field; master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in asset management or renewable energy, focusing on solar energy.
  • Strong knowledge of solar technologies, plant operations, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and performance analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
