Mechanical Superintendent - Mission Critical

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for field operations on assigned projects to ensure timely and profitable completion, focusing on mechanical systems. This role involves supervising field labor, including laborers, craft workers, and trade contractors. The position requires strong leadership, organizational, time management, communication, and client service skills.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise daily on-site activities of the field labor force.
  2. Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with the Project Manager.
  3. Maintain good relationships with clients, including representatives of the Owner and Architect/Engineer.
  4. Develop and maintain the site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager.
  5. Manage quality control programs.
  6. Coordinate site testing and inspections.
  7. Monitor costs related to labor and materials.
  8. Manage self-perform work features.
  9. Promote an injury-free environment through personal actions and mentoring.
  10. Manage project schedules to ensure activities are on or ahead of schedule.
  11. Participate in project and subcontractor meetings.
  12. Assist during the Pre-Construction and Estimating phases.
  13. Verify accuracy of final record drawings.
  14. Mobilize the site and establish utilities.
  15. Ensure permits are secured and inspections are completed.
  16. Review and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals.
  17. Review cost reports for accuracy.
  18. Maintain detailed daily records of work progress.
  19. Oversee installation of process piping and mechanical equipment.
  20. Supervise mechanical equipment startup and document commissioning processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of general contracting or commercial construction experience in a superintendent role or similar.
  • Experience in hyperscale mission-critical construction projects.
