Job Title:Director of Manufacturing Operations, Machine Build

Job Summary


Director of Manufacturing Operations is a transformative and results-oriented leader to oversee and elevate manufacturing operations. This role will drive performance across manufacturing engineering, assembly, quality, supply chain, applications engineering, and operational excellence for both existing and new product introductions in our protective packaging machinery business.



As the Director, you will lead a high-performing team focused on innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.



Key responsibilities include:



  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives targeting cost reduction, assembly efficiency, and design simplification

  • Building a nimble, flexible workforce aligned with Pregis' commitment to operational excellence



Competencies:



  • Strategic Team Leadership: Builds and develops high-performing, agile teams aligned to business growth and new product development.

  • Operational Excellence: Leads lean transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost, quality, and manufacturability. Skilled in applying tools like 3P, VSM, and Six Sigma to optimize production flow, inventory management, and delivery performance.

  • Product & Process Innovation: Partners with engineering and sourcing to drive modular product architectures, reduce complexity, and enable scalable, cost-effective manufacturing. Champions standardization, documentation, and robust design-to-production alignment.

  • Results Orientation: Solves complex operational challenges using data-driven analysis and sound judgment. Continuously improves processes to deliver measurable gains in performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.



Required Skills



  • Extensive manufacturing experience, with functional expertise in:

    • Operations business systems aligning assembly operations to business goals for cost, delivery, and quality.

    • Operational Excellence including Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Quality, Safety, and Lean-Six Sigma toolkits

    • Drive year over year cost savings initiatives

    • Strong support for onboarding new products including new product categories.





Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of leadership experience in machinery assembly operations

  • Proven success driving Operational Excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Deep understanding of SAP or other ERP systems and their impact on cost, inventory, and production performance.

  • Strong business acumen with P&L responsibility, analytical decision-making, and collaborative cross-functional execution.

  • Inspirational leadership with excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety, team development, and organizational growth; travel up to 30%.
