Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager

Job Summary

  • As the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing HSE programs and policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Under the direction of the HSE Director, you will collaborate with various departments to identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement measures to mitigate risks. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • This individual provides vision, direction, initiative development and technical assistance throughout the organization in the execution of a top tier HSE management system.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, safe work practices, and accident prevention programs.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, opportunities for improvement and ensuring compliance with regulatory conformance.
  • Oversee the coordination of safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, ongoing training, and specialized training as needed.
  • Coordinate the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training, and compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with line supervisors and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
  • Stay informed with changes in safety regulations, industry best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and external safety consultants.
  • Develop emergency response plans and procedures and conduct drills to ensure readiness.
  • Provide guidance and support to departments and teams on safety-related issues and initiatives.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance safety performance.
  • Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to all levels of the organization.
  • Coordinate the continuing education and professional development of the HSE staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years proven experience in occupational health and safety management, in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, USACE, USCG, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to influence and engage others in safety initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Work Location

  • Orange, Texas (Operational Office).
  • Occasional remote work as negotiated.
  • Moderate monthly travel to project sites on the Gulf Coast with planned expansion to professional meetings throughout the U.S.

Schedule

  • Regular salaried work schedule including travel.
