Reports to: Site Administrator(s)

Compensation: Teacher's Salary Schedule

Overtime Status: Exempt

Position Summary

Sapulpa Public Schools is seeking a qualified Family & Consumer Science Teacher with a focus in Culinary Arts. The position includes oversight of the new high school's commercial kitchen facility, including a state-of-the-art kitchen designed to support hands-on, industry-aligned instruction. This position includes instruction in multiple Family & Consumer Science courses with an emphasis on culinary arts, as well as participation in and support of student organizations, clubs, and activities that extend learning beyond the classroom.

This position is responsible for delivering instruction aligned with state Family & Consumer Science and CareerTech standards, with an emphasis on culinary arts, nutrition, food science, kitchen safety, and hospitality. The teacher will support students' development in both academic and career-readiness skills.

Minimum Qualifications/Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc: Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in Family & Consumer Science, or eligible for certification

Other:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of culinary arts, food safety, and kitchen operations
  • Ability to manage a classroom and lab environment effectively
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver instruction aligned with state Family & Consumer Science and CareerTech standards, with emphasis on culinary arts, nutrition, food safety, and career readiness
  • Provide hands-on, laboratory-based instruction in culinary arts, including food preparation, sanitation, nutrition, and kitchen management
  • Integrate employability skills, CareerTech competencies, and industry standards into daily instruction
  • Implement project-based learning and applied instructional strategies to enhance student engagement and skill development
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and structured learning environment in both classroom and state-of-the-art commercial kitchen settings
  • Assess student performance, maintain accurate grading and program records, and provide timely feedback
  • Ensure compliance with all state CareerTech requirements, including documentation, reporting, and program standards
  • Manage inventory, equipment, and food purchasing within established budget guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and stakeholders regarding student progress and instructional programming
  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, CareerTech representatives, and community partners to support instructional goals
  • Support and/or sponsor student organizations and extracurricular activities related to Family & Consumer Science and FCCLA
  • Participate in assigned duties, school activities, and ongoing professional development
  • Maintain accurate student, program, and certification records in accordance with district and CareerTech requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS/EXPECTATIONS: Develops cooperative and functional relationships with district staff and the public; maintains consistent and punctual attendance; ensures job responsibilities are met competently and within established deadlines. Ability to develop and work with complex data spreadsheets.
