Job Summary

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live fulfilled, independent, and rewarding lives. Your role is absolutely essential in supporting individuals with everyday tasks as you will encourage and help guide them in achieving their goals and being part of the community around them.
Key Job Duties
Helping Individuals: You will assist and encourage individuals with intellectual disabilities to engage in daily tasks such as getting ready each morning, eating, and changing clothes. You'll be respectful and always consider their feelings.
Engagement: You`ll help individuals participate in socialization and community activities. You will provide help to individuals by planning meals, serving food, and engaging in normal, everyday activities.
Taking Medicines: You'll remind and assist the individuals in taking their medications safely and as prescribed.
Documentation: It's important to keep accurate notes about what happens throughout each day; what they did, how they felt, and any special events that occurred.
Working Together: You'll work closely with a team of other deeply caring people helping the individuals, like doctors and family members, to make sure everyone helps in the best way toward a common goal.
Handling Emergencies: If something unexpected happens, you'll know what to do to keep the individual safe and get them help.
Skills You will Need or Learn
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. If you`ve taken classes about helping people, that is a bonus.
Experience: It is helpful if you have worked with people with disabilities before, but if not, no problem, we will pay to train you.
Being Understanding: Your actions need to demonstrate that you care and be patient with the individuals you support.
First-Aid/CPR Training: You will be certified in First aid and CPR so that you can help someone in an emergency.
Other Requirements
· Full-time, part-time, and PRN (as needed) positions available!
· Must pass a criminal background check.
· Current, unrestricted Oklahoma driver`s license and proof of vehicle insurance (Preferred but not required in all situations)
· We offer additional, ongoing training and of course, as always, you are paid for your time.
· All employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 to 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $11.70 - full or part-time. $15 -PRN
Expected hours: 20 – 40+ per week.
