Job Description: Vessel Fitter/Welder

Position Summary: A Vessel Fitter/Welder will be responsible for performing all welding tasks necessary to thermally join pressure-containing vessel equipment and components, in strict adherence to ASME Code standards. This position requires translating engineering documentation into precise welded assemblies, utilizing specified materials and welding consumables, while following qualified welding procedures. The role demands the completion of tasks within allocated production timelines and in compliance with quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Welding and Fabrication:
    • Perform welding on pressure-containing vessels and components according to ASME standards.
    • Ensure that all welding work aligns with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
    • Use a variety of welding techniques such as TIG, MIG, Stick, and others as required.
  2. Quality Control:
    • Adhere to qualified welding procedures to guarantee the integrity and safety of welded assemblies.
    • Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing to ensure the quality of welds and final product.
    • Document all welds, inspections, and quality checks to maintain compliance with quality control systems.
  3. Time Management:
    • Complete all welding assignments within the allocated timeframes outlined in the production schedule.
    • Maintain productivity without compromising safety or quality.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow all safety guidelines, practices, and regulations related to welding and fabrication processes.
    • Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and other departments to ensure successful project completion.
    • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements in welding processes and techniques.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement efforts of the Vessel Department by sharing knowledge and best practices.
    • Stay up-to-date with welding technologies, techniques, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication, especially with pressure-containing vessels.
  • Knowledge and experience with ASME Code and welding standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
